Practically every business with a forklift has an area where vehicles drive through to collect/deliver products. Be it a freight sorting floor, a forecourt to a packhouse or a tradies drive-thru at a hardware store, the issues are common, dynamic and potentially lethal.

Following the  success at Placemakers Mt Wellington in the “Hardware awards” winning National trade store of the year and National retailer of the year (2013 & 2018) plus 2017 & 18 Fletcher Distribution innovation of the year winner, the journey for Placemakers New Lynn has begun.

Chris and his team have undertaken a project to give all of the New Lynn Placemakers operations a fresh look, particularly in their drive-thru area. While only part way through the project, they have bought fresh eyes, broad company experience and expertise and a thorough commitment to reaching for the best reasonable and practical outcomes possible. There is not a single aspect of their operations in this area which has not been re-examined and questioned. Systems and innovations from other sites have been selected from, which when completed at New Lynn, will provide a new benchmark for Fletcher's retail operations.

We'll get an overview from the site's senior staff, and a walk around to conclude. Inbetween we'll hear from Keith Robinson who has recently returned from a study trip to China to view their supply chain approach, including a single broad system to inter-modal hubs, drive-thru at a scale which is hard to grasp. Also sharing insights are our sponsors Checkmate and ASB, with salient perspectives on drive-thru operations and projects.
